Make it Monday Challenge

This week over on Nichole Heady's Blog- Capture the Moment Betsy Veldman has a video on a great stamping technique, that I just had to try. I love Betsy creative style, she is just amazing.
The technique was second generation stamping, where you ink up your stamp image, then stamp it off twice before stamping on your project. It creates a beautiful background for your card projects, brings a whole new use for all your stamps. Watch the video and you'll see what beautiful results you can get. Here is my card.

The stamp set I used was  Snowflake Serenade  . I used Pure Poppy and Antique linen card stock, Dark Chocolate ink, Pure Poppy bakers twine, and my Tim Holtz Christmas dies, love these !!! I posted this card over at Two Peas in the stamping gallery and it was chosen as Featured Porject of the day!! First time ever, that I have had one of my projects highlighted, very exciting. Thanks for stopping by, have a great day.

My First Acrylic Album

I attempted  something that I had wanted to try for a while, making an acrylic album. This has intimitated me for some time...I have had the album sitting in a basket for a while, but was not sure just how to go about it.

My Daughter turned 16 last month and I wanted to make her a keepsake about her life right now. So I thought what better than a mini album, and when I was looking through my stash, I came across my acrylic mini just sitting there...and thought well why not. I am so glad I did, I am really pleased with how it turned out, she loves the color aqua, so this paper from Bo Bunny-Gabrielle  collection was the perfect choice, so pretty, I added lots of butterflies and Tim Holtz goodies, and photos of her friends and family, I also added some really great quotes I found on Pinterest.  I still have a few pictures I want to add, and a few other things to finish up. Here are a few photos of it.

If you would like to see more of this album, you can go to my gallery at "Two Peas in Bucket" see my left sidebar . Thanks for stopping by, Have a Great Day!!

Make it Monday Challenge

I made a card for the "Make it Monday" Challenge over on Nichole Heady's Blog Capture the Moment. The challenge was to use your dies to make mats and frames. The card I made is for my Daughter's sweet sixteen birthday next week! Oh my goodness where does time go? The base of the card is Papertrey Inks Aqua mist, which I embossed with one of the Papertrey Inks Impression Plates called Giga Guildlines, I inked the impression plate with aqua mist ink before I ran it through my cuttlebug, which gave it a beautiful letterpress look. The patterned paper is from Bo Bunny's Gabrielle line, I just love the colors of these papers and they matched perfectly with Papertrey Ink's aqua mist and melon berry!!! I used my Mat stack 3 die from Papertrey Ink to make my frame from one of the patterned papers and then cut the circle out with one of the Limitless layers dies. I stamped my sentiment form the Daydreamer stamp set from Papertrey Ink, with aqua mist ink onto aqua mist cardstock, I then used foam adhesives to give the frame some dimension, added some bakers twine and a "16" bling I found at Micheal's, the flower trim is Maya Road and the butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch. Thanks for stopping by, Have a Great Day!

Where has the time gone???

I cannot believe it has been 3 and a half months since I blogged....where has the time gone, well it certainly has been busy, I always find Spring time busy, with school finishing, exams, and summer activites starting up. There is all the yard work to do, the clean up and then planting all the flowers. I always love spring, it is so great to get outside after a long winter and work in the garden, it's my favorite thing to do, very peaceful and relaxing. I have not been doing very much crafting, as usual that is more a fall and winter hobby, but I still sit some evenings and play with my goodies. We are planning our vacation in just a few weeks ( I can hardly wait) we are meeting my family at a cottage for a week, will be so nice to see everyone, especially the little ones, they grow so fast.  I guess that's it for now. I will try to check in a little more often.

WinterFest 2011 at Two Peas in a Bucket

Two Peas in a Bucket is hosting their annual Winterfest for stampers, come and join in the fun Challenges. You can find us here General stamping message board

"Make it Monday" for Papertrey Ink

Here is my card I made for this weeks challenge at Capture the Moment Blog, The challenge was to use fun foam on our card, the only color of fun foam I had was purple, so I combined it with Papertrey Ink's " Blueberry Sky", and "Stampers select white". I used my Butterfly Dreams stamp set for the background and I also stamped a butterfly image on my fun foam with " Fresh Snow" ink. I die cut the fun foam with the matching butterfly die and I also used the Medium scallop border die, and layered it with the blueberry sky and white cardstock. The sentiment is also from the Butterfly Dreams stamp set, and the label is from the " Tea for Two" die set. I used some lace trim and bling to finish it off,  I am really happy with how it turned out. I love trying new techniques, and that is what makes these challenges so much fun! Thanks for stopping by.

Make it Mondays !!!

Here is a card I made for the "Make it Mondays" series over at Nichole Heady's Blog Capture the Moment , she is the owner of Papertrey Ink, and is starting a new series, each monday there will be a video posted on her Blog with a technique demonstrated, you are then challenged to try this technique. This is my card for this weeks challenge. I had fun with this, digging through all my stamps looking for phrases that all related to Valentine's Day/Love. I used these stamps from Papertrey Ink Damask Designs, Mixed Messages, Daily Designs sentiments, Daily Designs, & Around & About Sentiments, mixing sentiments and images. I used their cardstock in Hibiscus Burst & Hawaiian Shores, stamped my sentiments in momento black ink. I used the Medium scallop border die to edge my card, and Hibiscus Burst ribbon on long the edge. I also used my glitter to add a little sparkle and some gems too that I colored with my Copic marker.  Thanks for stopping by.

Martha Stewart Doily Project

Well I finally got to this project last week and got it finished too!!! I call it my collection of favorite things!! I used up a whole lot of things from my stash, I did not buy a single thing for this, which I am very proud of myself for doing!!! A very nice lady at Two peas in a bucket sent me the Martha Stewart Doilies after I had been on one of the message boards at 2peas discussing the gorgeous project that Christine Middlecamp had been giving a tutorials on her blog Here is the link to her beautiful project. Christine is a master at layering, I just love her style and this project was my attempt at layering which I have a long way to go....but overall I am really pleased at the finished product, I just have to get a frame for it now and find the perfect place to display it.

Where does time Go ????

I cannot believe it's the 18th of January already...I have been a little busy with planning my Dad's 80th Birthday!! between work and all the other things in our regular life, I have some how forgotten about my Blog...opps. I  have not had much time to craft either, but things should calm down after this weekend, famous last words, right?? I have a few projects I want to get to work on.  I have been trying to do a mini album celebrating my hubby's and mine 20th wedding anniversary, I have also wanted to do a project with those Martha Stewart Doilies that a very sweet girl from 2peas sent me last fall.  I am sure other things will come up as well, especially with Valentine's just around the corner :-) Well I am going to run, Courtney has a hockey game tonight.

Here is a photo I took of Courtney and two of her friends at the fireworks last week, our home town is turning 100 years old this year, and they had firework to celebrate, the fireworks were amazing, kinda fun to see them in the winter, we usually go to see them in the summer for Canada Day, it was a beautiful night.
